Coaching Philosophy - Reid Baseball

For nearly three decades, Coach Reid has been under the guidance of numerous leaders and coaches. He has had the opportunity to observe a wide range of leadership and coaching styles. On one end of the continuum are those who are ill-intended, unhelpful, and self-serving individuals. Their interactions are often transactional. While on the other end, are those who are inspirational, selfless, and impactful, and their interactions with others are transformational.

As Coach Reid has developed greater self- awareness and refined his own style, he has learned that by tapping on the science of optimal human functioning (positive psychology) and its principles, he creates transformational experiences.

Accordingly, Reid Baseball’s Coaching Philosophy prioritizes the person before the player, establishing a personal connection with the individual, first. Coaching “Beyond the Ballplayer”, Coach Reid’s presence and authenticity allow him to develop rapport with, and make a positive impact on, individuals who are new to the game as well as high-performing, elite athletes.

Focusing on the process over the outcome, Coach Reid instills confidence in others, working to leverage their strengths and strengthen their growth areas, all while embracing the process. Empowering individuals to be accountable, adaptable, and resilient, Coach Reid values building character in others, and is a consistent and positive example of what it means to Embrace the Process, Control the Controllable, and Compete with Confidence.
